Schools and Services

Birmingham Tutors supports the work of Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Council in their coordination of educational services for children in care and for children with special educational needs or disabilities.

                                                           Tutors - Tutoring

Birmingham Tutors is proud to work with schools and services within the West Midlands. We tutor young people both within school and outside of school on a one-to-one basis. 


SENAR: Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Service

CiCES: The Birmingham Virtual School: Children in Care Education Service   which oversees the education of children in care in the authority and those children in the authority’s care who are placed out of the authority, as if they were in a single school.



The City of Birmingham

Including inner city Hockley, Small Heath and Aston; inner city urban Handsworth; Bartley Green, Harborne and Edgbaston to the south-west; Hall Green and Sparkbrook to the south-east; Bournville and Selly Oak to the south

The West Midlands

Solihull: including Castle Bromwich, Smethwick and Acocks Green

Sutton Coldfield: including Walmley, Erdington and Stockland Green, the latter two historically part of Warwickshire

Changes to Special Educational Needs: Education, Health and Care Plans and the Local Offer

On 1 September 2014 Birmingham published a local offer setting out in one place a wide range of information about special educational needs including information about the new Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans that replace all previous SEN Statements and Learning Difficulty Assessments.
